This Privacy Policy explains how Alpha Brain, a Maths, English and Science learning app for children operated by Clique ("Alpha Brain", "we", "us" or "our"), collects, uses and protects personal data. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions. Because Alpha Brain is used by children, accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email address and/or phone number, and password (when you sign up directly).
- Google sign-in data — if you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information you authorise Google to share, such as your name and email address, to create and secure your account.
- Child profiles — for each child you add, a first name only and their class. We do not ask for your child's surname, date of birth, photograph, email address or phone number, and there is no way to enter them. The first name is there so you can tell your own children's progress apart; you can use a nickname or an initial instead.
- Learning data — each child's progress: the levels and dojos they complete, how many questions they answered correctly (including how many they got right first time), how long a level took, and their settings. This is stored on the device and, once you have an account, synced to it so it survives a lost or replaced phone and so you can see it in your parent progress report.
- Payment data — subscriptions are handled by our payment provider (Paystack). We receive limited transaction details (such as status, card brand and last four digits) but do not store full card numbers.
- Technical data — basic device and usage information needed to run and improve the app.
- Analytics and usage data — how the site and app are used, so we can see which pages and features help families and where people get stuck. This includes the pages you visit, the buttons and links you tap, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, the website that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you arrived on (for example
utm_source). It also includes a recording of how a proportion of visits move through the site — text you type into fields such as phone numbers, verification codes, names and passwords is hidden from these recordings, and payment details are entered on our payment provider's own page, which we never record.
2. Weekly progress messages
If you turn on the weekly progress update, we send one message each Sunday to the number you choose, summarising what your child worked on that week. It is off unless you turn it on, we record when you agreed, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings — we keep no marketing list and send nothing else to that number. We store which weeks we have messaged you about, so you are never sent the same summary twice.
3. How we use it
- to create, secure and manage the account;
- to provide and personalise the learning experience and track progress;
- to process subscriptions and referral rewards;
- to send important messages about the account and (where permitted) helpful updates;
- to keep Alpha Brain safe and to meet our legal obligations.
4. Google user data
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve Alpha Brain's user-facing features. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising. You can revoke Alpha Brain's access at any time in your Google account settings.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers that help us run the app — our hosting and authentication provider (Supabase), our payment provider (Paystack), our SMS provider, and our analytics providers (Google Analytics and Mixpanel) — under agreements to protect the data;
- Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights, our users or the app; and
- A successor in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
6. Partners
Alpha Brain has a partner programme: people who share the app and earn a commission when the families they bring pay for Ninja Pass. If you join through a partner's link, or a partner buys a Ninja Pass for you, that partner — and a person they have assigned to that link — can see your name, your phone number or email address, when you joined, and whether your Ninja Pass is active. This is so they can help you get started and follow up with you. They do not see your children's names or anything your children do in the app. If you would rather a partner did not see this, contact us and we will remove the connection.
7. Children's privacy
Alpha Brain is designed for children and used under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We collect only the information needed to provide the learning experience, and we do not use children's data for advertising. If you are a parent or guardian and would like to review, correct or delete your child's information, contact us and we will help.
A child can play without an account at all, and until you sign in their progress stays on the device and is never sent to us. What we hold about a child is deliberately minimal: a first name you choose, a class, and what they did in the app. Removing a child in Settings deletes their progress from the device and from our records. Deleting your account removes every child on it.
8. Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as the account is active and as needed to provide the app, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond promptly to any incident.
10. Your rights
Subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act, the UK GDPR and other applicable laws, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Alpha Brain after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
